Hoya Corporation Pentax Imaging Systems Division is pleased to announce the launch of two high-performance interchangeable lenses for the acclaimed smc Pentax-DA * (Star) series. These lenses are designed exclusively for use with Pentax digital SLR to offer high-quality digital images. the smc Pentax-DA * 60-250 mm F4ED [IF] SDM is a versatile telephoto zoom lens offering a high zoom ratio, while the smc Pentax-DA * 55 mm f 1.4 SDM is a compact medium-telephoto lens offering a large maximum aperture.

SMC Pentax-DA * lenses
The smc Pentax DA * lenses are the newest members of the exclusive DA Star series, developed in the context of pursuit of Pentax's high image quality and are designed to deliver the best optical performance of all Pentax interchangeable lenses. Combining a host of advanced technologies, including optical elements super low-dispersion, optical elements at very low dispersion (ED) and Pentax-lens coatings, provide exceptional image description with clear images and high contrast, even at the edges of the image.
Dust and water resistant Pentax lenses
Characterized by a series of special gaskets, the new Pentax lenses have a dust-resistant, water-resistant reliable to avoid the intrusion of dust, water and moisture of the lens body. The system invented by Pentax Quick-Shift Focus allows switching instant operation of manual focus, after which the subject is captured in focus system autofocus camera s.
Stains and dust of Pentax SP coating blocks
The anterior surface of lens coating is treated with the Pentax original Super protect (SP). By applying a special fluorine compound on the surface of the lens through a vapor deposition process, this effectively repels dust coating, water and grease, making it easy to clean stains annoying like fingerprints and cosmetic brands.
Pentax SLR lenses-optical design
Thanks to a combination of special lens coatings, ideal curvature and best positioning of optical elements, these lenses are designed to optimize the features of digital imaging, effectively minimizing flare and Ghost images. Their image circle is perfectly proportioned to the size of the image sensor of the Pentax DSLRs. Despite their large maximum aperture, they are designed to be compact and lightweight for improved maneuverability and operability.
characteristics of SMC Pentax 60-250 mm lens
When mounted on a Pentax digital SLR camera, this zoom lens provides focal lengths from 92 mm to 383 mm in 35 mm format. The ratio of 4.2-times zoom covers a wide range of telephoto lens, making it ideal for capturing the various sports scenes and portraits.
Two extra-low dispersion (ED) optical elements are incorporated into the lens for minimal chromatic aberration. A single nonlinear shifting system used in the zoom mechanism effectively reduces field curvature aberrations and delivers solid performance – image description at all focal lengths.
The Grand opening F4 maximum is maintained over the entire zoom range to ensure a higher shutter speed or reduce the depth of field.
An innovative hybrid AF system offers both a super SDM autofocus operation using a supersonic motor installed in the lens body and conventional autofocus operation using a motor built into the camera body.

characteristics of SMC Pentax 55 mm lens
When mounted on a Pentax digital SLR camera, this medium-telephoto lens offering a focal length of 84.5 mm in 35 mm format. Coupled with its large maximum aperture of f 1.4, is ideal for portraiture applications.
A new Aero Bright coating improves performance by reducing image description effectively reflections on a wider range of wavelengths. Compared to conventional multi-coatings, this new coating greatly improves light transmittance in lens, drastically reducing flare and Ghost images that degrade image quality.
Combining the latest optical design and a circular diaphragm ensures smooth, beautifully obscured description out of focus, maximizing the advantage of a large-aperture lens in shallow depth of field.
Super low-element optical dispersion compensation effective is incorporated into a variety of optical aberrations.
The advanced SDM mechanism assures a, super autofocus operation using a supersonic motor installed in the lens body. Thanks to the SDM autofocus system-exclusive, the lens is designed to be compact enough, despite its large maximum aperture.
