Photokina Report 2010-Pentax announced a new digital SLR camera line with color accents that allow owners to choose one that matches their personal style. The colorful Pentax DSLR camera offers simple to use yet advanced functionality at an attractive price. The compact and lightweight Pentax K-r is easy to use with Auto Picture mode, Image Processing and Custom scene that take the guesswork out of wonderful images while offering a high degree of manual control and priority. Pentax SLR offers a variety of new and improved features including a fast framerate, high ISO, responsive autofocus, a 12.4 megapixel low-noise sensor and widescreen HD video capture that go a step above an entry-level DSLR camera.

Pentax DSLR
The Pentax K-r incorporates a CMOS image sensor with next-generation 12 megapixels and II Prime (Pentax real image engine), high-performance imaging engine for high speed and accurate treatment equal to that of higher level models for Pentax digital SLR image quality. The Pentax K camera also offers a wide range of sensitivity between ISO 200 and ISO 12800 which can be expanded from ISO 100 to ISO 25600 via a custom function.

Autofocus Pentax K-r
Even with the image sensor, 23.6 x 15.8 mm, Pentax K-r features a compact, lightweight chassis, stainless steel with in-body Shake Reduction in a space-efficient design. The Pentax K-continuous shooting mode high speed r's records over 25 images (in JPEG recording format) into a single sequence for a top speed of around six images per second (fastest of all models of entry-class) Sharp, crisp images of fast subjects. The Pentax K-r ' s high-accuracy, wide-frame SAFOX IX autofocus system features 11 sensor points (with nine cross-type sensors positioned in the middle) to focus on the topic. The Pentax K-r also has a spot beam projector to assist the AF system in dimly lit. Accuracy and speed of contrast AF operation during Live View shooting has been improved with a sensor of image generation and drastic updating algorithms of AF.

The optics of Pentax-original finder and the focusing screen natural-Bright-Matte renown ensure the Pentax K-r's viewfinder delivers bright, clear subject to 0.85 x magnification and field of view of 96%. The viewfinder offers excellent visibility even in bright outdoor locations and provides a real-time view, without the delays of the image of the subject. This is useful when the shutter is crucial, as in sports photography. The focus point is shown as a red dot in the viewfinder for at-a-glance confirmation. The Pentax K-a large, 3 "high resolution colour LCD monitor with approximately 921,000 dots and its wide-view design ensures a clear view of the monitor image from approximately 170 degrees, horizontally and vertically which makes it particularly useful in applications of low-and high-angle during Live View shooting.

Pentax SLR provides the function Shake Reduction
The new Pentax K-r presents the mechanism developed by Pentax SR (Shake Reduction), which effectively compensates for adverse effects of camera shake by up to walk approximately four shutter. This innovative mechanism extends its benefits to almost all Pentax interchangeable lenses — even those designed for film-format cameras. Pentax DSLR produces sharp and blur-free images even under demanding conditions prone to camera shake, such as when using a telephoto lens, shooting in the dark without flash lighting and shooting sunsets.
